Michele

How do I do Vegas?! Well as you guys continue to listen to the show you will slowly begin to learn more about each of us. As for me you will find I'm not your average small town girl. Growing up my Dad raced off road cars so my experience with Vegas began at a VERY young age probably 5ish. Our family would road trip it to Vegas at least once mostly two times a year for races. I loved the bright lights and pretty much tried to stay awake to catch the first glimpse of those lights on every road trip. We usually stayed at Circus Circus and I would always make my Grandparents take me up stairs and get my face painted like a clown. I loved to watch the flying trapeze act and love to watch them fly through the air effortlessly. I loved our dinners at the Pink Pony Cafe and almost always got a Shirley Temple. One of my favorite Easter vacations was when my family didn't really do Easter we just went to Vegas. We went to Mandalay Bay and their kids area was like the Wizard of Oz. My parent's would take turns gambling and we would get to play games in the mean time.

As I got older and of age my friends and I would take trips to Vegas.. I love to stay on the strip but stay on a budget. I know the best buffets to eat at for a great price. I love to go to Toby Keith's bar because it has a great ambiance and when they play "I love this bar" they give out free shots! I have my crazy Vegas stories too crazy hook ups in clubs and knock down drag out fights with girls during my best friends 21st birthday. It happened in our hotel room, security wasn't called or anything and we were really loud! I've had experience with celebrities and even tried absinthe! It isn't called Sin City for any old reason. I've been to strip clubs and had a vip experience at the Pussy Cat Doll Lounge. We won a margarita popsicle once at the Tropicana Pool and yes it had real alcohol in it and I've been a seat filler a few times at a country awards show. So how do I do Vegas? I do it up!

Leilani

How do I Vegas? Well I have a different experience than most people. :) I have been going to Vegas since I was nine. Fortunately I have an Uncle who is awesome enough to take me in everytime I head to Vegas. My favorite spot is Freemont! It's so chill there, and really low key. If you want to spend a little bit of money, and enjoy some random entertainment, then head down to Freemont. I also love checking out Terrible's Casino for their all night restaraunt... they have the best Biscuit and Gravy plate ever!!! Other than the walking the strip at random times, I enjoy hanging out at my Uncle's house and chilling with his friends. They are too fun!!! What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas right? Lol!

Name: Michele

Nickname: Shelly, Webs

Favorite Drink: Sweet Tea, Madori Sour...but I just saw a commerical for the twisted sweet tea and I think I really need to try that!

Male or Female (just in case): Female
Age: 29
Profession: Development/Fundraising Non-profit
Religion: Catholic
Political Affiliation: Republican
Music: Country/Top 40
Television: Love it! I love Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond reruns but I also love New Girl, The Vampire Diaries, Army Wives, Drop Dead Diva, The Middle, Nashville, Revenge, The Good Wife, Scandal, Modern Family, Hart of Dixie...Pretty much if you need a TV show update come ask me! I'm a TV junkie but I get behind sometimes and catchup on my weekends.
Movies: Walk the Line, The Notebook, Troy
Favorite Food: Pizza, Tacos, Bacon Cheeseburgers
Specialty dance move:  Fax Machine...sprinkler haha jk The running man!
One pet peeve: Distractions in church...I'm already fighting the urge to check my phone please don't give in next to me I'm trying to pray!
One thing you have on your bucket list: Visit all 50...States 32 to go!
Most important thing you’ve learned so far in life: You have to put yourself first! If you don't value yourself and make yourself a priority in your own life you can't expect others to either!
Tell us about one of your embarrassing moments (Karla): I really haven't had any...I know I'm so boring! Maybe when I tripped and sprained my ankle during PE in 8th grade I cried and everything...but a nice boy carried my backpack for me for those 6 weeks and it got me out of PE yay!
How much do you love yourself now and what has changed between you in the past and in the present? I love myself more now then I ever have I have finally realized that you have to put yourself first because if you don't no one else will!
What made you decide to do the show and why the name Chatting Drunk? (Laarni): Well I have been toying with the idea of starting a youtube channel because I'm addicted to watching youtube. I also love talk radio as most of my friends will tell you I always talk about Cosmo Radio and The Catholic Channel. Leilani and I went to dinner one night and because we like to eat and chop it up and boom the show was born...We kept talking about possible topics and what we would discuss we both went home and started googling how to get this thing started and before I knew it I was getting an email from Leilani saying "We have an appointment to start our show in two weeks with Blog Talk Radio" I thought "Well I guess we're really doing this!" I texted Luis when the new Pope was elected because there was much speculation that it would be an african pope. Luis had mentioned that to me years ago that it's supposedly said somewhere that an African Pope means the end of the world. Anywho I mentioned that Leilani and I were starting a podcast and he said "You guys need a male prospective on the show. I want in!" I told him I'd have to run it by Leilani and the rest is history! We toyed with many ideas (and still are!) Chatting Drunk just stuck from early on because we all like to chat about different topics and we also like to drink at the same time. Personally I would like to change the name because I would like to add it to my resume or Linked in profile but with this name I'm not able to do so. Come on loyal Listeners give us some ideas for a new name?! Or do you love the current name?
Something you are uncomfortable talking about on your show: Politics

Name: Leilani

Nickname: I have many nicknames, but I'll go with Lani on the show. Lol!
Favorite Drink: I love tequila! "Sorry bout it", but tequila is always yummy! Nom Nom Nom
Male or Female (just in case): Female. I was such a tomboy growing up my dad use to tell me I should have been a boy. Lol!
Age: 29... aaaaahhhhhh! At least it ain't 30 yet hahaha
Profession: I am a student. Going into education when I'm done.
Religion: Non Denominational Samoan Christian :)
Political Affiliation: Non Partisan on my voting ballot, but I usually vote Democrat
Music: I am the ultimate R&B baby! I love island reggae, reggae, country, Good rap! lol, actually all kinds of music. :)
Television: My recent favorites: Defiance, Duck Dynasty (yes, I like some reality tv), Family Guy (because I'm five), New Girl, and of course SNL (the good shows!) lol!
Movies: HORROR!!! I absolutely love horror movies. Also enjoy sci-fi, and good comedy. I like old comedy movies especially Jerry Lewis!!!
Favorite Food: Sandwhiches!!! Like my bff told me, I'm a grown ass woman that eats like I'm still 8. Lol! I also enjoy good Italian food, sushi, but not a big fan of red meat.
Specialty dance move: EVERY DANCE MOVE! Hahahaha! I wish I could dance like a pro, but I don't. I do love to dance, so you will catch me dancing, here, there, everywhere.
One pet peeve: When people wear sandals and their heel is sticking out of the back of their sandal. I feel like, bro, go up a size!!! They're flip flops, no one cares what size you wear. Just make sure your whole foot is on the sandal, or don't wear any sandals at all. Sorry, but that's the poly in me. lol!
One thing you have on your bucket list: To travel to the birthplaces of my grandparents. Samoa and the Phillipines.
Most important thing you’ve learned so far in life: You will put your foot in your mouth! What matters is how you carry yourself after that moment. :)
Tell us about one of your embarrassing moments (Karla): I farted doing a situp in junior high PE. Sorry to that one guy friend I had that I blamed it one the first time I did it. The second time I got caught! lol!
How much do you love yourself now and what has changed between you in the past and in the present? What do you wish to accomplish in the future? (Krystle): I definitely love myself more today than I think I ever have before. Definitely not as much as I should, but hopefully growing more each day. I would like to think that what has changed about myself betweeen now and then, is that I try to constantly "better" myself as a person. I continue to try to grow, and try my hardest to let go of the past. In the future, I hope to be happy with my life. Riches come and go, but happiness, well we can control that. This was a long question! lol!
What made you decide to do the show and why the name Chatting Drunk? (Laarni): Michele and I use to do an annual "dinner" when we stopped working together. And I realized that everytime we met up there was alcohol involved and good conversation. I don't know if it was the alcohol or the company, but it made for good times. The show was something we talked about during one of our dinners, but we didn't ever think that we would do it. Until I made a call, put some things into action, and Michele and me went with it. Luis came in and it was awesome!!! Lol! We, all three of us get along really well, and are so different. It's fun and we do the show for fun, which makes us keep coming back. Chatting Drunk was my idea, and I know my cohosts are not the biggest fans, but hey isn't that what we're doing every Thursday?!?!! Lol!
Something you are uncomfortable talking about on your show: I am definitely NOT as knowledgable about politics as my cohosts are. I feel that I will have to really do my research about topics regarding politics and laws, in order to really show my take on these shows.

Luis

Do you believe that we still have a chance? Are we going to self destruct or turn into a creature of pure love, and peace? The way things are going it seems highly unlikely. But when I see a kid smile and dream of a bright future, sharing this planet with his or her brothers and sisters, then I think that we still have hope. The question is do you?

Michele

I feel like this is a really broad subject and I will only touch on us as Americans since I am American and live here in America.

I feel like we as Americans are really not progressing, we are no longer the strongest, the best, the one that causes fear in other countries. Sometimes I ask myself where do I live? Do I live in a 3rd world country? People come here and bomb us take our own planes and fly them into our buildings, take guns and shoot defenseless bystanders. Not only are they people who immigrated here possibly became American Citizens, but they have also been born here and we are causing harm to ourselves. I feel like we as a country need to come together and work on ourselves and become stronger as one before we go out and help others. I feel by overextending ourselves we are weakening ourselves and allowing others to harm us. At this rate we will not evolve or become the nation we once were. We may still be "the free world" but how free are we if we are in debt to others? We need to worry about ourselves and care for our own, take care of our issues here.

I would like to think that there is hope for humanity and hope that our country will rise again but I don't think that's in the near future and I worry about my future generations. After this last Presidential Election was over I was extremely concerned. In my heart I felt that I would not want raise children here in the US, in the state we are in now, with no change or end in sight. But I remain hopeful that we will come together as a nation and be as strong as we once were. You have to be knocked down to come back stronger then ever and I hope that is what we will do. I hope this is not the beginning of our end as a free world.

Leilani

I am the eternal optimist, so I would like to think that yes, there is hope for humanity. Do I think that as a species we set our selves up for failure? Of course. As humans, we always want the best and the biggest of everything. This is one of our ultimate flaws. We can never just be happy with what we have. I am also guilty of this, so I gurantee you, I am not pointing fingers.

I think that we are evolving, and are constantly evolving. There is both a good and bad side to our evolution. We have created ways of keeping people alive longer, but at the cost of overpopulating our earth. We are so technologically advanced, but we have damaged our environment. We place importance on power, money, and success that we forget to look for acceptance, humility, and internal abundance.

Overall it's tough to say how well we will do as a species centuries from now. What I do believe, is that we can teach the next generations to look for ways to help us survive as a species. When Michael Jackson sang "We are the world", he knew exactly what he was talking about. Lol!

Are you a GOOD SAMARITAN???

This week your Chatting Drunk hosts discuss GOOD SAMARITANS. We looked at these three questions when thinking about this weeks topic.

1. What is your definition of a Good Samaritan?
2. Give an example of someone that you consider to be a Good Samaritan.
3. Do you consider yourself to be a Good Samaritan? And Why?

Don't forget to check out our live show at 9:00pm on Thursday, May 8, 2013. We will be taking live callers and chatting live on Blogtalk Radio, Facebook, and Twitter. Cheers!!!

Leilani

I believe that a good samaritan assists people less fortunate than themselves. (Fortunate does not equate to money, but could be bad situations, instances, etc) They do good deeds without expecting praise or anything in return.

There are so many good samaritan's in this world. The ones that we are use to seeing tend to be celebrities or religious figures. In my personal experiences, I was blessed to run across some great samaritans who selflessly devoted themselves to charities, or random simple acts of kindness. My parents are both good samaritans, as well as many of my family members and friends. They showed me the importance of extending a helping hand through volunteer projects, or helping people that we run across just in everyday life. I would say that the good samaritans that I see are the ones closest to me, the ones who aren't famous, but they will give you the clothes off their back, push your car, or volunteer endless hours to assist a complete stranger. They don't boast about helping others, because it's something that they truly enjoy doing.

I would like to think that I am a good samaritan through random acts of kindness. I haven't really been involved in any volunteer work in the past few years, but it is something that I really would like to get into. My random acts are just that, random. I don't really go out of my way to find others that need my help, but I try to help when I see them. Often times, I admit, I am consumed with my own everyday problems that I forget to be thankful for what I have. This is when I need to stop, reflect, and appreciate what I have, and like my mom always says PAY IT FORWARD. :) This topic has definitely made me think about what it really means to help others.

Luis

A good samaritan is anyone that, without the interest of a personal gain, acts in a helpful manner to his friends family, but most of all a complete stranger. That you can help and expect nothing in return.

Jesus was the ultimate good samaritan. Gandhi, Bob Marley, Janis Joplin, Martin Luther King, Cesar Chavez, among many many more. The problem is we tend to kill them and let demons run wild. Someone I think is a good samaritan that I actually know would be some of my friends Armani,Uriel,Ruben and my older brother is for sure a good man.

I believe at times I have been a good samaritan. I have gone to extreme measures to help people in need, however i will not talk about it or it does not count at all. Currently I need to practice it much more. My years have made me more bitter, so making my good intentions pail away.

Michele

My definition of a good Samaritan is a stranger who helps another in a time of need.

Hmm an example...I guess my example would be volunteers! I have worked for a few non-profit organizations and each one could not get everything accomplished without the help of volunteers. They are giving up their free time to assist these organizations to help others in need.

Do I think I'm a good Samaritan...not all of the time. I did work for an organization that assisted the homeless and before I worked there I was the type of person that would never give them money. I may give them food but not money. During my time at this organization I found myself giving money more freely. There was this one time there was this boy sitting outside of Target and he asked for some money he said his girlfriend was pregnant and he wanted to buy nice clothes for an upcoming interview...Had this boy not looked about the same age as one of my brothers I probably would not have given him anything but I felt sympathy for him in this situation (real or not) but if that were my brother I would hope someone would help him if he found himself in that situation. Another time I was at this same target and there was a girl in the parking lot asking for money she said she had a baby and she didn't have enough money for diapers. Once again I felt for her in this situation and if I found myself in this situation I would hope someone would help me so when she stopped me (just having left target because the lines were crazy long and I felt like I didn't really need anything I was buying) I turned around and told her I would buy her the supplies. A little on edge the whole time in there wondering is she going to jump me?! We went to the aisle and I bought her diapers and some wipes...I can't remember if I bought her anything else. As I reflect on these situations I feel like "damn I'm so gullible and I was totally scammed!" haha But at the same time every time I drive to work there are people standing on corners with signs and I almost always make sure I do not make eye contact because I feel bad, but I cannot help everyone and I feel like I'm doing my part in helping others that's the line of work I'm in!

FRIENDS... How many of us have them???

This week your Chatting Drunk Hosts discuss FRIENDS!!! What we thought about during reflections this week were the following questions...
1.What is your definition of Friendship and do you think that changes over the years?
2.If you met your friends today do you think you would still be friends?
3.Do you think people of the opposite sex can be just friends?

These questions definitely required some deep reflection on our parts. Tune in to our live show, or listen to our archived shows on Blogtalkradio.com.

You can also check us out on facebook.com/chatting.chatting.9, follow us on twitter @chattingdrunk, or follow our shows on Blogtalkradio.com/chattingdrunk where we will be adding our shows to itunes. Cheers!!!

Michele

Friendship
The emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends.

Synonyms

fellowship - companionship - comradeship

So I looked up the definition of friendship because I had no idea where to begin on this topic...I do agree with this I think fellowship is required to maintain a relationship with your friends. Some friendships require more than others. I have friends that I do not see all of the time and we can pick up right where we left off. I also have others where if we go a few weeks without speaking it's a little awkward at first and we aren't quite in sync but after a while it's like time never lapsed. I think it is important to check in with your friends to maintain communication and keep the lines open. I hate texting probably because my phone hates me and loves to auto correct me all of the time or I fat finger things...Leilani will tell you my phone is a FOB! I do love to g chat daily with my close friends. Anyway I think friendship is being there for each other in times of need but as we get older it does change because our lives change and friendship although important other things are equally as important, our jobs, our loved ones, and "me" time to stay sane! I think it's hard to realize that even though your friends may not always be there for you it doesn't mean they don't love you or are bad friends. All of your friends bring something to enrich your life and they all have different strengths use that to your advantage and learn from them!

If I met all of my friends today I probably would not be friends with them and I would probably miss out on great friendships. One thing that I would change though was to make sure I kept the communication open with old friends I have lost while growing up.

I don't know if men and women can be just friends. I feel like at one point in time one may think about crossing the line...do they act on it if they want to remain friends, NO! I think it can work is if one or both are married and they know the significant others. Although some people like sneaking around and in that case they could still cross the line and that's just a mess! I think with respect for one another they can be JUST friends. Also if they are not attracted to eachother they can be friends but I think getting to know someone better and becoming friends is also a can of worms and they could still become attracted to them. For example I had a really close guy friend in Jr. High he really liked me and asked me out a few times but I didn't feel the same way until I really got to know him over time.

Leilani

There are several categories of friends that I think everyone has. 1. You have your closest friends, who you can trust with anything and are as close to you, or even closer than your own family members. 2. Then you have good friends, who you continue to build a friendship with and spend a lot of time around. 3. There are also acquaintances, who you talk with once in awhile, you share a good laugh, you like being in each others company, but for one reason or another you haven't built a super close friendship just yet. 4. And finally there are the frenemies, yes frenemies! These are the people that you see around, you're cordial, and know of one another. You may make small talk, but you both have a clear idea that you don't like one another. Everyone has a frenemy, and if you think you don't, then I guarantee someone considers you one. lol!

Friendship definitely changes over the years. As you change, so does the company you keep. Friends can fall into any of the four categories above at any particular time in your life. I believe that at a certain point everyone will begin to understand who their REAL friends are, and who aren't.

I can honestly say that some of the friends that I have today, would probably not be my friends if I met them today. lol! It's not a bad thing. I realized that there are a lot of things that people deal with because they were your friends and vice versa. By this I mean that we tend to forgive and accept the faults of the people closest to us. We are usually more forgiving and understanding with people that we already have built friendships with, than with someone that you meet today. This is a good thing. You have built a tolerance for someone you love. You might not agree on everything, you might not like each other all the time, you might not even want to be around that person at times, but they are still your friends.

My example:I absolutely adore my best friends. We have the type of friendship where we can go weeks, months, even years without seeing one another, and when we meet again, it's like we were never apart. We have been through so much, and are so different, and accept each other's choices even if we think they're dumb. And we get a lot of laughs at the expense of one another! LOL! Our loyalty was built over years of experience, and if we had met today, we probably wouldn't be as close. It's our past that binds us.

I'm going to get a lot of shit for this last question. lol! YES I DO BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE OF THE OPPOSITE SEX CAN BE FRIENDS. Now I know plenty of people who disagree with me. I think it's silly to think that men and women can't share a friendship without thinking about having sex with one another, which is the argument people always give me. I actually get along really well with men, and prefer their company over women. They are less drama, more relaxed, and just plain fun. Let me clarify that my two best friends are women, and I am surrounded by women everyday in my life. But, many of these women also prefer the company of men. It's good for women to have testosterone around them, that they don't want to bone, and men to get a little estrogen energy once in awhile. Sometimes just good company is good enough and someones sex shouldn't hinder building a good friendship.

If I didn't cover any of the questions on here I'll try to on the show. Cheers!!!

Luis

My definition of friendship, real friendship, is similar to brotherhood, so it's a bond that is similar to a blood bond. Unfortunately, because friends are not actually family if they commit extreme betrayal or harm you or you family in a way that cannot be undone, that would be the limit of the relationship, but on my part no offense will be committed, as I treat my friends like brothers and sisters.

If I meet my friends later on in life, and I have the ability to start the friendship like it was a day ago, again unless they have become violent or hurtful to society everything should remain the same.

People of the opposite sex can be good friends if there is some sort of relationship that allows it like work, social events, mutual projects etc etc. Once two people have committed relationships and there exist some sort of mutual attraction between the two individuals, than maybe the friendship should keep a distance.
